Rahul has the day off today and wants to buy a book to help him learn Chinese characters. He asks, “Excuse me, where can I find a bookshop around here?” Someone says, “There’s one over there.” When he gets to the shop, all he sees are mobile phones. The shop assistant says, “Sorry, we don’t have any books here. There’s a bookshop across the street.” Rahul says, “Thank you.” The assistant replies, “You’re welcome.”
The bookshop across the street is big and has lots of books in Chinese. Some he can’t understand. In one book, he finds characters he’s seen at work: he knows how to read them, but he can’t write them. So he buys that book. He’ll start learning to write those characters today.
